I guess NBC made enough money this year. Some companies are struggling to pay for the $3,000,000 tab, per commercial. But I don't think the National Broadcasting Company is sweating the economy.

They're actually turning down advertisers.

Perhaps you've heard of the PETA ad that was rejected for being too... sexy? Riiiiiiiiight. I'll turn on the tube tonight and see if there's any other risque ads. Listen, I'm no PETA apologist; they can do their thing and I'll do mine. But interestingly, NBC told PETA that they could tone down the sexifiedness of the ad and it'd be fit to run. PETA (who'd probably achieved their goal by making headlines) declined.

But there was another ad that was rejected for NBC. And this one's not sexy at all.

The advertisement, a product of CatholicVote.com, even ends in a cultural touchstone-- a triumphant picture of our new President of the United States. NBC ruled that it was "too political".

Goodness. Maybe I've just got a backbone, but I don't see anything there as politically offensive.

Hopefully we'll see the advertisement run somewhere; CatholicVote.com is taking donations to get it run on other channels at other times.

Anyway, the game starts in a couple hours.
